Good and bad news from Texas

The good news - 55 people were indicted when undercover Texas state police agents broke up an extensive dog fighting ring in November. Even better is that Texas upgraded dogfighting from a misdemeanor to a felony following the Michael Vick incident. I am thrilled that Texas has begun taking dogfighting seriously.

On the not so good side, at least 80 the 187 dogs seized were put down. It makes me so sad that people could mistreat dogs so badly, and that the poor dogs were killed because of that mistreatment.

Read the New York Times article here, but prepare to be outraged and sad.
